Do We KNOW Him?

When I came to pray this morning, there was nothing specific that I felt I needed to pray into (even though there is a lot going on, none of it seemed to be urgent in the Spirit), so I simply asked God what was on His heart – what did He want to say?

In response I heard the following:

“My people, get ready. Jesus IS coming soon!
It is not your religious pursuits that make you ready, but your hearts turned to Me. It is not how good a Christian you are that makes you ready, but how much you acknowledge your own weakness and dependence on Me. I can move through anyone who will invite Me, but I cannot move through those who think they’ve already got things covered. I am coming soon, but there is much to do: are you ready?
There is such an outpouring coming that you cannot even imagine right now. It will be messy, hard and often overwhelming. But it will also be glorious – are you willing to yield control over your life so My glory can be revealed through you?

My children, you are still so busy with your meetings and opinions and other distractions – but who is there who will take the time to get to know Me? Where are the Marys who prioritise sitting at My feet? Where are the Johns who know how to lay their head on My breast?
It is those who habitually spend time with Me who carry My heartbeat, who know what moves Me, and who hear My secret plans; who catch the breath of the Holy Spirit and allow it to fill their sails, carrying them to surprising places where I am moving. It is those who know Me who are going to usher in My Kingdom.
The season of great and powerful leaders with strong opinions and loud voices is over. I am giving you leaders who are true humble servants, who have no strength of their own but who know Me and are yielded to what I can do through their weakness. Forget everything you used to look for in a leader: look for those who spend time with Me, who know Me – and you will find Me there.
But more than that, look for Me for yourselves.
It is not too late, My beloved ones: will you lay down all your human priorities and distractions and just come to Me in relationship, to get to know Me more as I reveal My love for you? I long to be with you today – will you take time for Me?

As God spoke I was reminded of the time I naively asked Him what I could do for Him, and He replied simply but with intense longing, “I want to be KNOWN”.

In the Gospels Jesus made it clear that the ones who would be with Him in eternity would be those who He knew personally (Matt 7:21-23; Luke 13:25-27; Matt 25:1-12). It doesn’t matter what we do, it matters if we have genuine relationship with Him. Tragically there are many Christians nowadays who are doing their best to serve and please God, but who don’t really know Him. Yet it is easy to remedy… all it takes is for us to take time to come to Him – in prayer, worship, Bible study & consciously abiding in His presence – and to set out hearts to seek Him. He NEVER turns anyone away and He ALWAYS answers. Sometimes we have to sift through layers of our own unbelief, feelings of shame, & self-rejection – but through the blood we are all accepted in the beloved. And the more we seek Him, the more we find Him right there with us, ready and willing to draw us closer.

So I pray today you will be encouraged to take some time to get to know Him better. It’s not hard, we just have to trust His Word from James 4:8 – “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you“
