The Call

This morning as I came to prayer, I was aware of many distractions seeking my attention, and unsure which to pray into I asked God to show me His perspective. What I saw and heard was nothing like my worldly concerns, but went much deeper…

I saw a valley at dawn, where an army was gathering. In the distance was a dark cloud of chaotic activity, but in the valley people were coming together, preparing for battle. And on the ridge behind them, next to my viewpoint in the Spirit, was a huge host of heavenly angels, watching and waiting for the signal that would release them. Light was starting to fill the valley though the sun had not risen above the horizon yet… but we knew it was about to break.

And I heard God say, “The armies are gathering, beloved – the angelic hosts and the troops of those whose hearts are undefiled, who belong to Me. I have been gathering and positioning them ready for a mighty move.
The enemy has been consolidating his position. he thinks he is winning, and it may look that way to those who only see in the natural. But I have not left you. I WILL NOT let him continue to oppress My beloved ones. I am preparing you all for a mighty move of My Spirit.
You cry out, asking “When God, when?”, and I hear you, beloved. I see your struggles and suffering as you wait for the revealing of My mighty hand. I hear your cries and I receive your tears as precious jewels as you fight to hold on to hope, to hold on to Me. Remember, you whose heart belongs to Me: weeping may remain for a night, but joy comes in the morning! And morning IS coming! I have not deceived you: My light IS about to break forth.
The darkness will not be completely destroyed until the fullness of time, and there are many battles ahead. But keep your eyes fixed on Me, and you will see My glory. There is a revealing coming where angelic visitations will become more commonplace, and where My light is going to break forth suddenly in the midst of dark places where My faithful servants have been wrestling for too long. Only keep your eyes on Me. neither be distracted by the battles not the victories, for the enemy would use the battles to discourage, and even use our victories to distract and release pride. Do not let down your guard against him, even when you experience My victory. Learn to take your rest on the battlefield.
Those of you who are engaged in the battle are few in number, it’s true – but more than you think. I am calling My warriors and they are waking, though many are weak and inexperience in warfare, and most are distracted by the cares of this world or the deceit of religious thinking. Few are the ones who have laid down their opinions and rights to their own lives, to live as walking sacrifices. But I am gathering them, and I am breathing My life upon them, that they may find each other and encourage each other on the battlefield. Do not be intimidated by how small in number you are, for there are many more who are for you that against you. I have sent my angelic hosts to encourage and minister strength to you, so you do not have to quit. They are fighting with you.
And as the dawn breaks and My glory is revealed, many more will join you on the battlefield. Beloved, will you train them in warfare? Teach them – show them how to hold ground in the face of the enemy’s strategies. Help them to realise victory is in Me, not in their own efforts to fight. Train them to use their weapon – the sword of My Spirit – effectively and skilfully, not waving it around madly but applying it with precision. Show them how to find places of rest without quitting the battlefield.

My people, you have enjoyed a season of knowing Me as Father, and I have delighted in sharing intimate relationship with you. That truth will always be yours – your strong foundation is in or unbroken, covenant relationship.
But now it is time to rise and also stand in the revelation of My Son Jesus as your Lord and King. You who call Him Lord are about to be called upon to put your words into action. Will you submit your whole lives to His Lordship? Will you lay aside your cherished opinions, preferences and rights, to only live according to My laws? Will you commit to waking in love and forgiveness to ALL? Will you bridle your tongue and cease your foolish, carnal talk? Will you commit to meditating only on what is good, lovely, wholesome and pure? And will you prepare your feet to advance into dark places that I will show you for the purpose of rescuing those who are trapped in sin? Will you truly give Me your lives, relinquishing all control, ready to do whatever I ask? It may not be comfortable, but I will be with those who seek to obey.
It is My heart’s desire to bless and increase you – but just not on your terms. You seek My blessings as if your lives are the central point around which I must work. But if you want to know true freedom, you must shift perspective so that My Kingdom is the central thing. And this can only be achieved by dying to self.

Beloved, surely you know I love you!? You can absolutely trust Me – will you make Me – truly – your Lord? Don’t worry about whether or not you are able to obey all My commands – I already know you are not. But the cross covers all failures. Will you just give Me your heart and do your utmost to obey? I will help you, and you will see My glory revealed.
I did not come to preserve your life but to take it – will you surrender your life entirely to Me in deed as well as word, that I can transform it into its glorious, eternal purpose?“

As I sat and processed what God was saying, I realised that although He started off talking to me, He was also speaking to many others: to those experienced in warfare, asking them to train those who are not – and then to everyone with the call to lay down our lives completely (we Western Christians are sadly well practiced in double-mindedness: paying lip-service to His Lordship while continuing to live our lives as if they are our lives).
So I asked if this was a word to release – it seemed obvious but I always try to check. And immediately I felt a real urgency. For us on earth it may feel like this season is dragging on far longer than we would like, but in the Spirit there is a strong sense of immediacy. We MUST get into place for what is about to come: side by side in total unity, focused only on Jesus, ready to do whatever He commands.
